Job Overview

The Avionics/Electronics Technician II performs maintenance including inspection, test, and repair of aircraft avionics/electronic components in an avionics bench repair environment in accordance with company and FAA-approved manuals and methods. The role requires repairing components at the component level, documenting maintenance records, parts tracking, and ensuring accurate recording of costs. The technician must adhere to all company policies and standards, maintain a safe, clean, and compliant work environment, and practice safety‑conscious behaviors in all operational processes and procedures.

Job Responsibilities
  • Possess in‑depth knowledge of intermediate to advanced electronic, electrical principles and circuit analysis and the ability to interpret schematic diagrams, engineering drawings, technical manuals, mechanical drawings and charts of assigned systems.
  • Extensive knowledge of electrical and mechanical devices such as small electrical motors and actuators, mechanical and pneumatic valves, AC/DC lighting systems, computer hardware, circuit boards, microchips, and basic programming for the avionics section.
  • Trace signal flow and understand interrelationships of circuits.
  • Demonstrable soldering, cable, crimp, and harness (CCH) fabrication skills with understanding of corrosion control methods and remedies.
  • Inspect components of avionics equipment for defects and accuracy of assembly and installation.
  • Test avionics equipment under simulated or actual operating conditions to determine performance and airworthiness using oscilloscopes, digital meters, counters, and circuit analyzers.
  • Adjust, repair, or replace defective components based on test results following blueprints, schematics, handbooks, and technical documents using hand tools.
  • Calibrate installed or repaired equipment to prescribed specifications.
  • Use common hand tools and precision measuring equipment such as micrometers, depth gages, flow meters, pressure gauges, etc.
  • Apply knowledge of the design and function of equipment.
  • Follow industry and government safety, health, and environmental practices.
  • Assist with research and development of new repair capabilities and reading new manuals.
  • Assist with maintenance of shop equipment and supplies.
  • Make computer entries and complete various types of paperwork maintenance documents such as Service Reports and 8130-3’s in accordance with FAA Regulations and company policies.
Basic Qualifications
  • High School Diploma, 2‑Year Electronic Degree and 1‑2 years of demonstrated relevant experience OR HS Diploma and 3‑4 years of demonstrated relevant experience.
  • Competency in repairing electronic circuit testing, troubleshooting, and manufacturing at the component level.
  • Ability to follow and read work instructions, prints, schematics, drawings, etc.
  • Strong technical computer system (hardware & software) knowledge.
  • Hands‑on problem‑solving style.
  • Good organizational skills and ability to support several projects and engineers while balancing priorities and schedules.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate well with employees at all levels.
  • Self‑motivated and self‑directed, requiring minimal oversight to meet objectives and timelines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
