Charge Nurse – Atlantic Rehabilitation Institute
Part‑time night shift (12‑hour rotating weekends) at Atlantic Rehabilitation Institute, Madison, NJ.
Pay: $50/hr (base hourly rate).
OverviewThe Charge Nurse provides leadership, clinical guidance, and oversight of nursing operations during assigned shifts. This role ensures the delivery of high‑quality, safe, and compliant patient care by coordinating staff assignments, supporting workflow, mentoring nursing staff, and promoting excellence in clinical practice.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and support nursing staff to ensure effective, patient‑centered, evidence‑based care.
- Demonstrate strong leadership and foster a culture of teamwork and accountability.
- Oversee daily staffing assignments based on patient acuity, census, and skill mix.
- Serve as a clinical mentor, providing real‑time coaching, support, and guidance.
- Ensure timely and accurate documentation in accordance with regulatory and hospital standards.
- Act as liaison between nurses, physicians, therapists, and interdisciplinary team members.
- Respond to changes in patient condition and assist with higher‑acuity interventions as needed.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, patient safety efforts, and hospital compliance activities.
- Support new nurse orientation and ongoing staff development.
- Facilitate effective communication across shifts, including handoff processes and incident reporting.
Education
:
Graduate of an accredited registered nursing program; BSN preferred.
Experience
:
Minimum of two years in a rehabilitative or acute care setting with demonstrated leadership ability (Charge Nurse or Preceptor experience preferred).
License
:
Current RN license in the state.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required.
- Child and Adult Abuse Certification required (if applicable by state).
- CRRN preferred.
