BEM has an excellent opportunity for a project-level Engineer/Geologist/Environmental Scientist position to support the Site Remediation group in Madison, New Jersey. This role will work directly with project managers supporting challenging remediation and compliance projects across New Jersey. Responsibilities include developing sampling plans, conducting field investigations, data analysis, site characterization, and report writing under the guidance of experienced engineers, geologists, and scientists.
Key Responsibilities- Support field investigations of soil, groundwater, sediment, and surface water, coordination of field events, soil characterization and field screening.
- Oversee monitoring well installations and abandonments, annual groundwater monitoring, soil and groundwater remediation activities, waste characterization sampling, and demolition projects.
- Provide office support, including preparing permits, work plans, and technical reports.
- Prepare documents such as PAR/SIR/RIR/RAR.
- Maintain familiarity with NJDEP regulations and technical guidance documents.
- Obtain HAZWOPER certification per 29 CFR .
- 1–3 years of professional experience conducting site remediation including developing sampling plans, field investigations, and report writing.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Geology, Environmental Sciences, or a related field.
- Self‑motivated team player.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to perform well under pressure and within established deadlines.
- Strong understanding of NJDEP regulations and requirements.
- Preferred field skills: soil logging, soil and groundwater sampling, vapor investigations, GPS use.
- Experience with electronic data collection applications (Fulcrum) and modeling software is a benefit.
Salary Range: $50,000 – $55,000 per year.
