Base pay range$15.50/hr - $15.50/hr
Position SummaryThe Fitness Center Floor Staff/Instructor is a key member of the Health & Wellness team, responsible for creating a welcoming, supportive, and safe environment for all members. This role supports member engagement by providing instruction, equipment assistance, and promoting YMCA wellness programs.
Team Shift Schedule- Monday: 4:45am-9am
- Saturdays: 10am-3pm, 3pm-7pm

- Conduct member onboarding sessions and instruct individuals on proper use of the EGYM circuit.
- Assist members with general questions related to fitness equipment and proper usage.
- Proactively promote personal training, small group training, and chronic disease programs to interested members.
- Circulate throughout the Fitness Center to engage with members, develop rapport, and provide ongoing support.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe fitness environment by completing assigned cleaning and restocking tasks.
- Ensure member safety by enforcing Fitness Center rules and policies.
- Respond to unexpected situations and emergencies calmly, professionally, and in accordance with YMCA procedures.
- CPR/AED and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
- Previous experience in a fitness or wellness environment preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to take initiative and work independently while being part of a team.
- Comfortable promoting programs and engaging in conversation with a diverse member base.
- Must be able to stand and move about the facility for extended periods.
- Light to moderate lifting required (equipment, weights, etc.).
- Will work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

This includes attending required training, reporting suspicious or inappropriate behaviors, and adhering to procedures that minimize risk. Supervisors are also responsible for providing oversight, feedback, and accountability to ensure staff and volunteers follow these standards.
