Overview
BETHEL LUTHERAN HOME IS SEARCHING FOR A FULL-TIME REGISTERED NURSE FOR THE EVENING SHIFT
Responsibilities- Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement and evaluate resident care in the Long Term Care area. Performs regular resident assessments to identify specific needs.
- Demonstrates knowledge and skills in the nursing process for residents requiring the expertise of a professional registered nurse.
- Demonstrates geriatric assessments and treatments; identifies victims of abuse and knowledge of how to report alleged abuse; assesses geriatric safety issues; demonstrates geriatric nursing care competencies; interprets resident data in reference to geriatric population.
- Assess signs and symptoms indicating physiologic and psychological changes in the resident's condition.
- Collects, analyzes, and interprets data from health care members and documents actual and/or potential nursing diagnoses.
- Documents the plan of care using identified nursing diagnoses, expected resident outcomes, and selected nursing interventions.
- Identifies and prioritizes actions based upon resident care requirements; monitors consistency between the resident plan of care and directions from medical staff.
- Performs interventions according to identified priorities, plan of care, Bethel Lutheran Home policies and resident outcome standards.
- Provides a safe, comfortable and therapeutic resident environment; initiates and evaluates resident and/or family education; revises the plan of care according to evaluation and changes in medical plan of care.
- Documents resident's response to nursing and other interventions; uses clinical judgment in evaluation activities to meet resident care needs of an assigned unit; monitors safety and effectiveness of environment and equipment.
- Participates in activities to facilitate good interpersonal communications within Bethel Lutheran Home; supports professional practice by observing applicable laws, standards, and resident rights.
- Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing with a valid SD State licensure as an RN or LPN.
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support required.
- One year prior professional nursing experience preferred.

- Ability to lift heavy objects using proper lifting techniques and with assistance as necessary.
- Ability to transfer and move residents who vary in ability to assist weighing 200+ lbs. using proper lifting techniques and with assistance as necessary.
- Ability to push and pull equipment weighing in excess of 40 lbs. using proper techniques and with assistance as necessary.
- Manual dexterity, coordination and skillful use of hands when working with residents and equipment.
- Vision and hearing adequate to provide resident care/services.
- Moderate concentration/intensity with prolonged mental effort and limited breaks.
- Normal memory and ability to manage information; moderate decision-making complexity.
- Must be able to work alone in a restricted area performing repetitive work for extended periods; able to concentrate amidst distractions.
