About The Democratic Party of Wisconsin

Wis Dems is nationally recognized as one of the country’s highest-performing and most pivotal political organizations. During the upcoming election cycle, Wis Dems will drive massive programs to hold Republicans accountable, elect progressive candidates up and down the ballot, and work to build volunteer-led coalitions for the long term. Wis Dems’ work is grounded in inclusion, respect, and empowerment across race, gender, other dimensions of identity, and the rural/suburban/urban divide.

Our work continues year-round, collaborating with partners to build a movement that delivers meaningful change for all Wisconsinites. We seek outstanding applicants who share our values and vision to join the team, help win elections, and build a future where everyone can thrive.

The Opportunity

The Operations Assistant is the essential frontline and "back-of-house" engine that keeps the Wis Dems Headquarters running. Reporting to the Operations & Logistics Manager, you will serve as the first point of contact for our office, managing the main phone system and greeting all visitors with a professional, customer-service mindset. Beyond the front desk, you will handle the physical and tactical details that allow our political staff to focus on their work.

This is an active, hands-on role involving mail processing, inventory management, travel coordination, and facilities support. You are the guardian of the office environment, ensuring that from the main phone line to the supply closet, everything is organized, stocked, and ready for action.

You're our person if
  • You love a checklist. You take satisfaction in organizing chaos—whether that’s sorting a mountain of mail, organizing a storage area, or tracking inventory spreadsheets.
  • You are a "Doer." You aren't afraid to roll up your sleeves, break down boxes, or make a run to the store. You take pride in physical tasks and completing them efficiently.
  • You are detail-obsessed. You understand that a misfiled invoice or a lost package causes headaches for the whole team. You treat every piece of mail and every piece of equipment with care.
  • You have a service mindset. You view the staff as your customers. You anticipate their needs (e.g., "The printer paper is low") and fix it before they even have to ask.
You align with our core principles
  • Accountability & Solution-Oriented: You take full ownership of your actions and commitments, holding yourself to a high standard and seeing objectives through to completion. When challenges arise, you approach them with a problem-solving mindset, focusing on solutions rather than pointing fingers.
  • Collaboration & Teamwork: You succeed by working as a team, stepping up to support teammates, and sharing knowledge freely. You actively break down silos by connecting across teams, inviting different perspectives, and staying open to new ideas to achieve shared goals.
  • Growth & Adaptability: You are dedicated to continuous improvement and challenge yourself to learn and adapt. You proactively seek, offer, and act on feedback with openness and can anticipate potential obstacles to take proactive steps.
  • Respect & Inclusion: You build strong relationships by treating everyone with kindness, dignity, and trust. You approach interactions assuming positive intent and have the courage to address difficult topics directly and honestly while showing care for others.
  • Transparent Communication: You communicate openly and honestly to build trust and alignment. You are proactive in setting clear expectations, sharing the "why" behind decisions, and providing timely updates to ensure the right people have the information they need.
Job Responsibilities
  • Logistics & Facilities Support: Maintain the physical organization of the Madison and Milwaukee HQ, including supply closets, storage areas, and common spaces. Ensure the office is clean, stocked, and professional. Serve as the primary point of contact for the Madison office front desk and main phone line, ensuring a professional, welcoming, and responsive experience for all callers and visitors. Manage inventory tracking for office supplies, swag, and tech hardware, placing…
