Job Description

Baker Tilly is expanding its Global Customs and Trade Advisory team at the Senior Manager level. In this role you will serve as a firm‑wide resource for customs and trade matters, engage with a variety of client projects, manage risk related to global trade, and help launch and grow this practice. You will have a significant opportunity to build a book of business and step into a leadership position.

Responsibilities
  • Identify and build customs and trade opportunities internally and externally.
  • Advise U.S. and foreign companies on global import and export strategies and compliance.
  • Build up the Customs & Trade brand in the market.
  • Manage successful delivery and implementation of projects.
  • Prepare responses to client queries by conducting customs and excise technical research.
  • Advise clients on global trade advisory needs and compliance requirements.
  • Develop and execute strategies to manage duty costs and trade risk, improve compliance, and increase operational effectiveness.
  • Stay current on global trade developments and work to develop new and innovative service offerings.
  • Assist in new business development while sustaining excellent client service through networking.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required; master’s or advanced degree preferred.
  • U.S. Customs Broker License preferred.
  • Practical knowledge of import and export processes, trade procedures, and documentation.
  • At least 8 years of experience in public service, consulting, or advisory roles focused on international trade, customs, and excise.
  • Client‑focused with experience working with U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the Bureau of Industry and Security, the Office of Foreign Assets Control, or the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls.
  • Technical knowledge of global customs topics such as valuation, classification, country of origin, free‑trade agreements, export controls, licensing, trade sanctions, etc.
  • Strong background in International Trade, Trade Policy, and International Relations.
  • 10+ years of leading teams and/or projects.
  • Ability to lead and supervise others, provide exceptional client service, and demonstrate commitment to continuous learning.
  • Eligibility to work in the U.S. without sponsorship highly preferred.
