Senior Architect – Science & Technology (S&T)
Location: Madison, WI
Salary: $90,000.00 – $ (per year)
Position Type: Full‑time

Job requirements:
APPLICATION REQUIREMENT:

- Lead the design and documentation of S&T facilities, including laboratories, research buildings, clean rooms, and advanced manufacturing spaces.
- Generate space programs, flow diagrams, site plans, and floor plans for client review and approval.
- Lead client meetings, presentations and design reviews and respond to feedback to ensure the design progression according to the project schedule; ensure requirements are communicated to the full project team.
- Collaborate with BW ’s internal team as well as external consultants on all aspects of the building design such as building common spaces, exterior envelope, chemical/code analysis, control areas, lab casework design, utility terminations, interior finishes, site plan, structural, mechanical systems, and electrical systems.
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes, regulations, and industry standards including life‑safety and laboratory guidelines.
- Prepare documents and perform quality assurance reviews of project documentation at major project milestones.
- Mentor less experienced staff and contribute to a collaborative and productive environment.
- Participate in marketing or other activities as needed.
- Licensed Architect in the State of Wisconsin.
- 10+ years of professional experience, with demonstrated work on science and technology‑focused projects.
- Proficient in Revit for all phases of design and documentation.
- Strong understanding of laboratory planning and design plus technical building requirements.
- Solid knowledge of building codes, accessibility standards, and life‑safety requirements.
- Excellent listening, communication, organization, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks and work effectively in a team‑based environment.
- Experience with other markets such as higher education, healthcare, or government facilities is a plus.
- Familiarity with sustainability strategies, high‑performance building design, or LEED projects.
- Construction administration and field coordination experience.
