Job Summary
The University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center (UWCCC) and the Division of Hematology, Medical Oncology and Palliative Care seeks an academic clinician with a focused interest in cancer research and clinical care for patients with Sarcoma to join our faculty. Cancer research focus would include health services or clinical trial research and priority areas include genomics, precision medicine and cancer therapeutics.
This position would be active in multi-disciplinary oncology programs. The current care team includes sarcoma-specific pathologists, medical and radiation oncologists, surgical oncologists, in addition to sarcoma-specific research and clinical trials staff. Responsibilities
Duties include direct patient care, including ambulatory, inpatient and consult service; (60%)
* Includes outreach service at approved UW Health locations, as well as inpatient call coverage.
* Includes protected time, (40%) to develop a research or teaching program and to engage in scholarly activities.
* Teaching medical students, residents, and fellows within the context of your clinical practice
* Proactively supporting efforts to improve diversity in clinical trial participants
Clinical research is conducted in the UWCCC by 18 multi-disciplinary Disease Oriented Teams and is supported by the UWCCC Clinical Research Central Office on the main campus. Over 170 UWCCC investigators regularly enroll patients to therapeutic intervention trials at our UWCCC clinical sites. The Division of Hematology, Medical Oncology & Palliative Care is part of the Department of Medicine and the NCI-designated UW Carbone Comprehensive Cancer Center. The Division is active in all phases of cancer research, from prevention, screening, cancer therapy, development and evaluation, survivorship and palliative care. Education
Must be Board Eligible or Board Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
Must have completed an accredited fellowship training program in Medical Oncology.
Must be eligible for a Wisconsin medical license.
Qualifications
Experience in clinical and/or health services research, with a track record of successful publications in peer reviewed journals, strong written and verbal communication skills, commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, evidence of excellence in teaching and current or high potential to obtain extramural funding. Through these efforts, the ability to enhance national recognition for our division and the University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center.
For appointment at Associate Professor on CHS Track, candidates will meet criteria established by the department and as outlined in the School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for promotion or appointment to Associate or Professor on the CHS Track.
