UW-Whitewater/UW Madison Summer Counselor

Join to apply for the UW-Whitewater/UW Madison Counselor role at Forward Service Corporation

A six-week position supervising and mentoring high school students, plus three in-service/training days. Working days will be as follows:

  • Training (June
    9):
    Full-day training at UW Whitewater (overnight accommodations provided)
  • Training (June 10):
    Full-day training at UW Whitewater (overnight accommodations provided)
  • Training (June 11):
    Full-day training at UW Whitewater (overnight accommodations provided)
  • Part 1 (June 15‑19):
    Staff will live on campus at UW Whitewater
  • Part 2 (June 22‑26):
    Staff will live on campus at UW Whitewater
  • Part 3 (June 29‑July
    2):
    Staff will live on campus at UW Whitewater
  • Part 4 (July 6‑10):
    Commute to UW Madison and/or Business Tours near Madison and supervise students in daily activities
  • Part 5 (July 13‑17):
    Commute to UW Madison and supervise students in daily activities
  • Part 6 (July 20‑23):
    Staff and student trip (Minneapolis, MN, overnight accommodations provided)

Compensation:
Total of $4,000 plus an additional $100 for each returning year, with a maximum pay of $4,500. Payment is paid in two installments: half mid‑program and half at the end.

What you get to do:
  • Supervise, guide, tutor, and mentor students
  • Supervise recreation, program activities and meals
  • Rotating night supervision
  • Assist in the development and implementation of activities in the residence unit
  • Chaperone one‑day and multi‑day field trips
  • Prepare reports on academics, student behavior, meals, and accidents
  • Participate in training and other staff meetings
Qualifications:
  • As of June 2026, must be at least sophomore status with at least one year of experience at a post‑secondary education institution with a GPA of at least 2.75
  • Have a high level of maturity, adaptability, ability to work on a team, self‑disciplined
  • Have familiarity with and sensitivity to the needs of adolescents
  • Have strong leadership skills, highly accountable, and be reliable
  • Can work with minimal supervision
  • Hold a valid driver’s license
