Department Overview

Schedule

8‑12 hours per week. You must have availability during three days of drop‑in advising: currently Monday‑Friday, 1:00 pm – 3:00edium. Work will be almost entirely in‑person in the Career Engagement Studio. We will also have some evening hours available for miscellaneous events and presentations.

Availability to attend the Career Peer Advisor training the week before the fall 2026 semester begins is also required. This is tentatively scheduled for Monday, August 24 – Wednesday, August 26, 2026.

Salary/Wage Range/Lump Sum

Eligibility:
Open to admitted BBA students only.

Preference is given to students who have completed a business internship or who has one already set for summer 2026. Preference will also be given to students who can commit to working both the Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 semesters.

Position Summary /

Job Duties

The Career Peer Advisors are primarily responsible for providing drop‑in advising to admitted undergraduate business students on career‑related topics. They are also responsible for career‑related presentations to student organizations and the general undergraduate business student population. Career Peer Advisors assist in the development and execution of career coaching resources and events/programs, collaborate and take initiative on various peer projects, and support the BBA Career Engagement Team professional staff.

The Career Engagement Team (CET) has in‑depth training related to major and career‑pathway specific topics that will provide Career Peer Advisors an ability to perform their role with confidence.

  • Provide one‑on‑one and/or group advising to students during drop‑in hours on career‑related topics including: job/internship searching, resume writing, cover letter writing, career fair preparation, interview preparation, job/internship offers and negotiations, networking, and proper business etiquette.
  • Provide quality customer service in the Career Engagement Studio greeting guests and managing basic verbal and written communications.
  • Develop extensive knowledge of CET resources, services and career pathways.
  • Suggest creative strategies to market Career Forward and CET services and implement as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with CET staff and other peers on career‑related programming, which may include workshops, experiential programs, and presentations.
