Field Service Representative – Madison Gas and Electric
Job Purpose
The Field Service Representative assists with the operation and troubleshooting of the Automated Meter Reading System, performs manual meter reads and executes other field activities as assigned.
- Inspection and Reporting:
Visually check meter installations for problems that could result in energy usage being improperly recorded. Observe and document problems in the work order system. - Equipment Operation:
Operate company vehicles to drive daily mobile routes and perform investigations. - Customer Interaction and Support:
Contact customers regarding usage trends to verify accurate billing and deliver customer collection notices. Assist Field Inspectors with investigations and provide backup to Customer Data Representatives.
- Plans and Aligns:
Plan and prioritize work to meet commitments aligned with organizational goals; understand main tasks, sequence work, and deliver on time with acceptable quality. - Tech Savvy:
Anticipate and adopt innovations in digital and technology applications; effectively use latest technologies required for success; learn and adopt new technologies. - Optimizes Work Processes:
Know the most effective processes to get things done with a focus on continuous improvement. - Manages Complexity:
Analyze complex, high‑quantity information to solve problems, identify underlying causes, and apply systematic problem‑solving methods.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy; good organizational and time‑management skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to deal positively with customers to promote good relations.
- Proficiency across multiple computer systems and software programs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic knowledge of navigation and route planning.
- Valid Wisconsin driver’s license in good standing.
- Ability to meet physical requirements of the role as identified by the company’s ergonomic assessment.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a technical or field service role is preferred.
