Entry Level Municipal Engineer role at Jacobs in Madison, WI. The base pay range is $58,656.00/yr - $80,000.00/yr. Jacobs aims to solve critical problems for thriving cities, resilient environments, and innovative infrastructure projects.
As part of our team, you’ll work on projects that bring innovative solutions to municipal clients’ drinking water, stormwater and wastewater challenges locally and worldwide. You’ll design and rehabilitate municipal infrastructure for projects including transmission, distribution, and collection pipelines, pump stations, storage facilities and treatment facilities. You’ll work with water, stormwater, and wastewater systems, participate in field and condition assessments, and collaborate with technical experts to identify client solutions.
You’ll perform calculations, modeling, and prepare technical reports, and participate in producing construction drawings and specifications.
- Master planning for “outside-the-fence” assets, including evaluating facility capacity, condition assessments, and preliminary engineering
- Watermain, storm sewer, and sanitary sewer replacement planning and design, including the development of detailed construction documents (plans, specifications, reports, etc.)
- Design reports for the recommended sizing of water, wastewater, and stormwater systems based on projected growth and/or climate-driven models
- Capital improvement plans that prioritize and sequence the needed infrastructure improvements
- Opinions of probable construction costs
- Regulatory agency coordination, permitting, project funding and public and stakeholder involvement
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil and/or Environmental Engineering
- Engineer-In-Training (EIT) Certificate or ability to obtain within six months of hire
- Working knowledge of capital improvement plans, sewer and water infrastructure, hydraulics, and state and federal standards and regulatory requirements
- Self-motivation, teamwork, strong data analysis, technical problem-solving, organizational skills, and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Proficient skills with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Experience in preparation of plans, specifications, cost estimates, studies, proposals and/or reports
- CAD experience in AutoCAD, Project Wise and Bluebeam
- Experience with municipal clients and agency partners, including conveyance pipeline design
- Experience working within multi-disciplinary teams in planning, design and/or construction
- Authorization to work in the United States without visa sponsorship (now or in the future)

The base salary range for this position is $58,656.00 to $80,000.00. The actual pay is determined by location and factors such as job-related skills, experience, and education/training.
