ResponsibilitiesCost Analysis & Estimation Excellence
- Transform project plans, specifications, and addenda into comprehensive, winning cost estimates
- Execute precise quantity takeoffs for piping, fixtures, equipment, and accessories using advanced estimating software and proven methods
- Build and maintain relationships with subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers to secure competitive pricing
- Create compelling bid proposals and detailed cost breakdowns that win work
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and designers to optimize scope and eliminate discrepancies
- Lead value engineering initiatives and recommend cost‑saving solutions during pre‑construction planning
- Monitor market conditions, material costs, and labor trends to maintain competitive advantage
- Participate actively in pre‑bid meetings, site visits, and job walks to gather critical project intelligence
- Build and maintain comprehensive historical cost databases that drive future success
Required Qualifications Foundation Requirements
- Education:
High school diploma or GED required; degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or related field strongly preferred - Experience:
3+ years of proven estimating success, preferably in commercial or industrial construction - Technical Knowledge:
Plumbing/piping expertise highly valued
- Advanced proficiency with estimating software (Trimble, Bluebeam, FastPIPE, or equivalent) and Microsoft Office Suite
- Expert ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and specifications
- Strong foundation in codes, standards, materials, and installation practices
- Outstanding mathematical, analytical, and organizational capabilities
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Sharp attention to detail with ability to manage multiple complex projects
- Experience with BIM coordination or 3D modeling
- Knowledge of LEED or sustainable plumbing practices
- Background in mechanical systems or construction field experience
