Senior Energy Engineer / Lead Project Developer
Location:
Remote, focused on the Midwest region
We’re looking for a Sr. Energy Engineer / Lead Project Developer who will lead from the front—assessing energy-saving opportunities, packaging compelling proposals, and driving conservation projects through execution. You’ll work collaboratively on complex challenges in the energy services space.
Key Responsibilities- Site Assessments & Engineering Plans (40%)
Conduct on-site evaluations and develop engineering strategies to quantify energy conservation measures (ECMs) and estimated savings. - Proposal Development (10%)
Craft clear, persuasive content for proposals that highlight project benefits and deliverables. - Scope & Pricing Strategy (15%)
Define project scope and prepare accurate pricing models for selected ECMs. - Project Commissioning (15%)
Oversee commissioning of installed systems, ensuring everything operates as designed. - Measurement & Verification (15%)
Analyze performance data using IPMVP standards to validate projected savings—standing behind any guaranteed outcomes. - Professional Growth (5%)

Deep understanding of mechanical/HVAC systems, building automation, electrical systems, and lighting. - Problem Solver

Proficiency with energy modeling tools, building controls, and energy data analysis software. - Project Management Skills
Plan, coordinate, and execute projects across different stages effectively. - Adaptability
Comfortable working remotely across diverse Midwest client locations and industries. - Communication
Strong interpersonal skills to build trust with clients and partners. - Innovation Enthusiast
Always scouting for and adopting emerging energy-efficient technologies and best practices. - Sector Experience
Demonstrated success delivering commercial, industrial, or healthcare facility energy improvements. - Travel & Flexibility
Able to travel up to 25% and occasionally work evenings based on project needs.
- Degree
Bachelor’s in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, or Energy Systems Engineering. - Licenses/Certifications
PE and/or CEM preferred. Additional certifications like CEA, CMVP, LEED AP are a plus. - Experience
8+ years in energy engineering or related project development. - Specialized Knowledge
Hands-on experience with ASHRAE Level 2 & 3 energy audits (including Investment Grade Audits). - Industry Standards
Familiarity with energy modeling and codes (e.g., ASHRAE, IESNA, NEC). - Full Project Lifecycle
Proven ability to take jobs from proposal, through implementation, to project closeout. - Technology Know-How
Up-to-date understanding of energy-efficiency tools, systems, and how to apply them effectively.
