Highway Engineer – PE

Position at Jacobs in Madison, WI.

Base pay range: $108,000–$125,000 per year.

• Preparing highway and roadway designs for WisDOT urban and rural projects, including interchanges, corridors, and major reconstruction efforts.
• Developing detailed plans, specifications, quantities, cost estimates, and design documentation for state highway projects.
• Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of engineers and project managers to deliver complex highway design solutions.
• Participating in quality control reviews and assisting with project coordination throughout all design phases.
• Providing mentorship to junior staff.

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (Transportation focus preferred).
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in Wisconsin.
• 4–8 years of roadway/highway design experience, including WisDOT projects.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D; experience with Bentley Open Roads a plus.
• Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
• In-depth knowledge of WisDOT design standards, state highway specifications, and federal roadway guidelines.
