A Day in the Life of a Project or Senior PlannerAs a Project Planner or Senior Planner, you manage tasks, projects, and community engagement, work directly with our clients, represent Toole Design in project and stakeholder meetings, pursue and win work, and reinforce our reputation as trusted experts. You work with other planners, landscape architects, urban designers, and engineers to deliver a variety of exciting project types focused on making places and travel experiences better for everyone.
You are at the table with clients and colleagues from a variety of disciplines, integrating input from a broad range of stakeholders to create award‑winning plans that lead directly to implementation.
We help clients find people‑first solutions that prioritize active transportation at all different scales: national, state, regional, local, corridor, and intersections and crossings. Our work includes community network plans, safety analyses and Vision Zero action plans, Safe Routes to School plans and program management, design guidelines, conceptual design, and way finding. Underpinning our work is our unwavering commitment to human‑centric streets and places that exemplify equity, ethics, and empathy.
For Project Planner II candidates, with typically 8‑10 years’ experience, we are targeting a range of $81,000‑$90,000. For Senior Planner candidates, with 10+ years’ experience, we are targeting a range of $86,000‑$102,000.
Qualifications of a Project or Senior Planner – Vision Zero- A bachelor's or master's degree in a related field or additional work experience in lieu of secondary education
- At least 8 years of transportation planning experience, including safety planning, vision zero, SS4A, or other related experience
- Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- GIS software (Arc Map, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, QGIS)
- Project management experience, ideally working with multidisciplinary teams
- Familiarity with crash modification factors or systemic safety analysis
- Experience with Safe Routes to School, complete streets, active transportation planning, bicycle and pedestrian way finding, or transportation demand management
- RSP or AICP certification
