Turner & Townsend is seeking a Cost Manager / Quantity Surveyor to support a major data center construction project. This role involves managing cost planning and control throughout the full project lifecycle, ensuring delivery on time and within budget for a large-scale, mission‑critical facility.
Responsibilities- Support cost management activities from early‑stage budgeting and procurement through post‑contract cost control and final account closeout.
- Prepare and present detailed cost plans, estimates, and budgets aligned with project scope and objectives.
- Assist with cost control processes during construction, monitoring actual costs against forecasts and recommending corrective actions.
- Review and validate change orders, ensuring proper documentation and compliance with contractual terms.
- Track contingencies, commitments, and cost impacts across multiple packages or phases.
- Prepare and deliver cost reports, forecasts, and presentations for stakeholders.
- Contribute to procurement strategies, bid analysis, and contractor negotiations.
- Support value engineering and design optimization initiatives to identify cost‑saving opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with internal financial systems, client‑specific requirements, and regulatory controls.
- Maintain benchmarking data and historical cost records for continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with project managers and design teams to align scope, budget, and schedule.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, and internal teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of experience in cost management or project controls.
- Experience with large‑scale construction projects; data center or mission‑critical experience preferred.
- Familiarity with MEP systems and sustainable infrastructure is beneficial.
- Strong knowledge of cost planning, budgeting, post‑contract cost control, and change management.
- Understanding of procurement strategies and commercial management of contracts.
- RICS accreditation or progress toward it is advantageous.
- Excellent communication and client‑facing skills.
- Proficiency in cost management tools, Microsoft Office, and cloud‑based applications.
