Job Summary
The Department of Corrections is hiring a Financial Specialist Senior in the Division of Community Corrections Cashier's Unit at Madison, Wisconsin. This position reports to the Financial Specialist Program Supervisor and is responsible for the accurate receipt and disbursement of offender payments, including restitution and assessment orders, in compliance with Wisconsin statutes and agency policy.
Responsibilities- Enter restitution order information and make adjustments for joint and several credits.
- Review and enter assessment reports, civil judgments, and related financial instruments.
- Process stop payments and reissue checks as required, updating payee information and coordinating with field staff.
- Maintain accurate records in the agency’s financial system and provide reporting as needed.
- Minimum 2‑4 years of experience in modern bookkeeping, accounting, and auditing practices.
- Proficient use of MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access) and state accounting systems.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to follow complex instructions.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, officials, and the public.
- Valid U.S. work authorization at the time of application.
- Competitive salary: $26.08 per hour, schedule 02‑13.
