. As a Behavior Technician at WEAP, you’ll help children with autism learn, grow, and build communication, socialization, and self‑help skills through a play‑based therapy known as applied behavior analysis (ABA). - Assist children aged 18 months to 6 years with autism in homes and WEAP centers through ABA therapy.
- A genuine desire to help children with autism and their families reach their goals.
- A steady supply of compassion, empathy, enthusiasm, kindness, goodwill, and reliability.
- A willingness to learn about autism, learning differences, and applied behavior analysis (ABA).
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Daily access to reliable transportation.
- Eligibility to work in the United States.
- Availability to work a consistent weekly schedule morning, afternoon, and/or evening.
- Ability to pass a background check.
- Minimum age 18.
- Bi‑lingual in English/Spanish.
- Studied, majored, or minored in psychology, education, special education, childcare, behavioral health, health science, or a related field.
- Experience working with children (e.g., babysitter, nanny, tutor, teacher, coach, camp counselor, or other childcare).
- Training or skills to support a career in behavior analysis, behavioral health, teaching, occupational therapy, speech‑language pathology, counseling, mental health, and parenting.
- Experience creating lasting, positive change for children and families.
- Full‑Time or Part‑Time, hours 7am‑8pm CST Monday‑Friday with possible weekends.
- Starting pay at $17/hr and up based on ABA experience/training.
- Full‑time employees earn up to 15 days of paid time off (PTO) after 90 days of employment.
- Part‑time employees are eligible for sick leave.
Physical requirements vary and are based on specific client assignments. You may be asked to push, pull, and lift up to 35 pounds, and move quickly. It is necessary to sit on the floor, stoop, stand, walk, and run.
