Autism
Spectrum Program Occupational Therapist
The Autism Spectrum Program Occupational Therapist position includes the implementation of occupational therapy for the Autism Spectrum Disorder Services as defined by Wisconsin Statutes at GHC‑SCW. The Autism Spectrum Division Occupational Therapist will work under the supervision of the Autism Spectrum Manager. Within this position, the Occupational Therapist will design and implement occupational therapy programs for patients with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Therapist will be required to integrate parent training into treatment plans for children and will provide strategies needed for optimal occupational performance. Additionally, the Occupational Therapist will be responsible for recommending specialized equipment, environmental adaptations and access to assistive technology as needed. This position will require flexibility in availability to service a growing clientele and caseload.
The Occupational Therapist will be part of the Autism Services Program and provide clinic-based treatment per department protocols. They will complete documentation in the electronic medical record in a timely manner per department and organization protocols, and chart in a manner that
Job Specific
Minimum Qualifications Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy from a college or university program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education of the American Occupational Therapy association required.Licensed by the State of Wisconsin to practice occupational therapy or demonstrate eligibility pending application.Certification by the National Board for Certification of Occupational Therapy.Minimum 3 years' clinical experience in providing occupational therapy treatment that infuses only the most up to date evidenced based practices for individuals with autism spectrum disorder preferred.Demonstrate proficient knowledge of human development.Experience working with a variety of age groups from birth to adulthood.Excellent assessment skills required. Knowledge of interviewing practices and techniques used in order to gather information. Ability to recognize and identify medical symptoms and problems required.Experience working collaboratively with related professionals and providers.Adherence to a high level of professional and ethical standards (in accordance with AOTA standards).Commitment and proven ability to provide inclusive, equitable, respectful, and competent care to persons of diverse cultural backgrounds and identities.Knowledge of and ability to use personal computers required. Familiarity with Microsoft Office programs, and ability to learn and use electronic medical record systems such as EPIC required.Access to and ability to use a personal computer with stable access to high-speed internet and video conferencing capacity.Ability to work effectively with clinic and administration and to be a team player in a team-oriented environment required. Ability to interact productively with staff at all levels required.The ability to listen, troubleshoot and be flexible is required.Professional manner necessary to deal courteously and effectively with patients and the public required.Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with GHC‑SCW staff.Ability to work independently and prioritize work required.
