Lab Assistant – Clinical Labs – UW Health
Location:
UW Health Northport Drive Clinic, Madison, WI
Schedule:
100% FTE, day shift. Monday – Friday 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM, occasional 8:00 AM start. Hours may vary based on operational needs.
Sign‑on bonus:
External hires may be eligible for up to a $2,500 sign‑on bonus.
- Perform standardized and specialized phlebotomy procedures on patients of all ages, ensuring proper identification and specimen labeling.
- Receive, process and load specimen onto instruments, perform kit testing and related instrument maintenance (temperatures, reagent monitoring).
- Complete clerical duties such as filing, mailing and faxing.
- Check‑in patients and enter laboratory test orders into the laboratory information system.
- Interact daily with pathologists, physicians, technologists, clinical staff, nursing unit personnel and patients.

- High School Diploma or equivalent – required.
- Accredited phlebotomy training program and clinical rotation completion – required.
- 6 months of phlebotomy and specimen processing experience – required.
- 1 year of experience in phlebotomy and processing – preferred.
- Phlebotomist certification (American Society for Clinical Pathology) or equivalent – preferred.
- Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA) certification (American Society for Clinical Pathology) or equivalent – preferred.
