Job HighlightsThis is a full time evening shift phlebotomist position for St. Mary's Hospital in Madison working a total of 32 hours per week. The schedule is 12:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and includes a weekend and holiday rotation.
Compensation and Sign-OnA one-time sign on bonus is available to qualified individuals for up to $5,000 (less taxes) with a 2 year service commitment.
Job SummaryUnder specific direction, collects and prepares blood specimens and other samples for laboratory testing. Maintains collection areas and equipment and performs record keeping duties.
Responsibilities- Collects blood specimens by venipuncture and capillary technique and processes the samples according to laboratory guidelines.
- Delivers samples to the laboratory in established time frames.
- May perform waived testing.
- May perform a variety of administrative duties to support the department.
- Identifies patients using two identifiers.
- Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
- Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
- Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.
- Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication. Ability to hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
- Frequent keyboard use/data entry.
- Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting and gripping.
- Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
