Billing Assistant – Oak Park Place

Role OverviewThe primary function of a Billing Assistant is to assist and support in the processing, reviewing, and follow up of all third-party insurance claims for the facility in accordance with all federal, state, and local guidelines, standards, and as directed by the Director of Patient Billing.
Essential Functions- Control and maintain census, resident files, billing setup in PCC.
- Secure resident financial status information through Waystar and/or other provider portals (precertification, authorizations, referrals).
- Provide timely and accurate billing and collections for all accounts for assigned facilities.
- Perform monthly review of accounts receivable aging for all resident account balances.
- Assess accuracy of claims and perform collection efforts (as needed) to ensure timely payments.
- Collaborate with residents, families, and insurance companies to resolve billing inquiries and disputes.
- Maintain general working knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and other insurance regulations and requirements.
- High School Diploma/GED Equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 years of applicable experience in healthcare (long-term care) billing and collections.
- EHR and/or billing software experience required. Experience with PCC a plus.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Leadership, negotiation, problem‑solving skills and ability to interpret cause and effect.
