Job Summary
The University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health (SMPH) is a leader in research and innovation, dedicated to improving patient outcomes through advanced data science and analytics. We are seeking an experienced Dev Ops Engineer for the Wisconsin Health Data Hub (WHDH), recently funded by the EDA as part of the Tech Hub initiative, to drive transformative data science projects that enhance healthcare and research at SMPH.
Key Responsibilities- Design, develop, and maintain scalable and stable Azure infrastructure solutions.
- Implement and manage continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines using Azure Dev Ops.
- Automate tasks through scripting and other appropriate tools.
- Ensure security and compliance with Azure policies and procedures.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting to resolve infrastructure‑related issues.
- Collaborate with software developers to optimize application performance.
- Monitor systems, identify performance bottlenecks, and implement solutions proactively.
- Develop and maintain design and troubleshooting documentation.
- Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies to ensure effectiveness and efficiency.
- Plan disaster recovery measures and maintain data storage security in Azure.
- 10% Serves as a technical lead in the design, integration, delivery, and provides advanced and varied consultation, project management, and operational support of applications or services and development operations (Dev Ops), through automation and/or infrastructure as code.
- 20% Analyzes requirements and communicates and coordinates with staff and internal stakeholders related to the system and/or project.
- 20% Develops, programs, and/or deploys automation workflows for deployment, configuration, and/or monitoring of systems/services.
- 20% Manages, maintains, selects, and develops automation tools and infrastructure, including security configurations.
- 10% Performs integration, migration, configuration, and security of existing applications and services into automated infrastructures.
- Serves as a subject matter expert to internal stakeholders, providing guidance and training to staff.
Preferred:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Informatics, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Proven experience as an Azure Dev Ops Engineer or a similar role.
- Proficiency with Azure services and Dev Ops tools (e.g., Azure Dev Ops, ARM templates, Terraform).
- Strong scripting skills (e.g., Power Shell, Python).
- Experience with CI/CD pipeline implementation and management.
- Knowledge of cloud security best practices.
- Excellent problem‑solving and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Azure Dev Ops Engineer certification.
- Experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- Familiarity with other cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP).
Full Time: 100%
This position may require some work to be performed in‑person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non‑campus work location.

SalaryMinimum $110,197 ANNUAL (12 months) depending on qualifications. The starting salary for the position is $110,197 but is negotiable based on experience and qualifications.
