Description: The Business Systems Engineer is responsible for leading the day-to-day technical work related to the business systems architecture supporting front and middle offices functionality for both public and private markets. This senior role also leads the construction and maintenance of the processes used by the Investment Systems Engineers and consultants. The role partners with Operations and other parts of Technology to ensure that systems are designed to meet business needs and are effectively supported over time.
Schedule: Hybrid – 3 days onsite in Dane County, 2 days onsite for employees outside of 50 miles, 1 day onsite for employees greater than 60 miles.
Relocation Package: Available for those interested in moving closer to the office.
Security Clearance: Applicant must be a United States Citizen or Permanent Resident.
Rate: $95,000-$105,000/year
Responsibilities:- Research and implement new solutions: Work with Technology Owners, Business Owners, and Operations.
- Analyze needs: Ensure business needs are met through design, development, or deployment of software.
- Architect/Designer: Serve as the architect/designer for investment management applications and systems, including test plans and scenarios.
- Identify gaps and risks: Recommend ways to address or minimize gaps and risks in SWIB’s systems architecture.
- Lead architecture and design: Coordinate software or solution architecture and design, including code where applicable.
- Test software: Implement manual or automated testing, document defects, and oversee maintenance and upgrades.
- Subject Matter Expert: Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues.
- Evolve knowledge: Maintain knowledge of investment and asset management business practices and technology trends.
- Research new technologies: Identify common industry-specific trends, products, vendors, and services.
- 2-5 years of investment management industry experience.
- Knowledge of third‑party ABOR/IBOR applications such as Simcorp Dimension or Eagle STAR/PACE.
- Substantial knowledge of investment industry operational and functional capabilities.
- Substantial knowledge of investment industry strategies, processes, and technologies.
- Hands‑on experience with Simcorp Dimension is an added advantage.
- Agile methodology experience is an added advantage.
- Ability to document and communicate technical knowledge effectively.
- Ability to envision solutions, communicate those solutions, and help form tangible outputs.
- Communicate complex technology subjects in layman’s terms.
- Detailed familiarity with common investment practices and securities.
- Ability to design technology solutions to solve business problems and translate requirements into specifications.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Finance, or a related field.
