Systems Engineer-Infrastructure & Cloud Operations

Pay Rate: $50-$58.97

We are seeking an experienced Contract Systems Engineer to oversee infrastructure services delivered by third-party IT vendors for a large healthcare organization.

This role is responsible for ensuring the reliability, performance, security, and compliance of infrastructure across on-premises, virtualized, and cloud environments.

The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise in VMware, Azure, and Windows/Linux systems, along with experience managing outsourced infrastructure services and working in highly regulated environments.

• Oversee and validate infrastructure services delivered by third-party IT outsourcing providers.
• Monitor infrastructure availability, performance, capacity, and adherence to service-level agreements (SLAs).
• Provide technical oversight across physical, virtual, and cloud environments.
• Audit vendor deliverables, troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues, and coordinate escalations.
• Ensure infrastructure meets security and regulatory requirements, including HIPAA, CMMC Level 2, and CMS MAC ARS.
• Validate disaster recovery readiness, backup processes, and business continuity capabilities.
• Review infrastructure configurations, security controls, and compliance documentation.
• Collaborate with internal IT, security, and external vendor teams to resolve issues and improve operational efficiency.
• Support infrastructure governance, vulnerability management, and capacity planning.

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years of experience in server and storage administration within multi-tenant or hybrid environments.
• Experience working with or overseeing third-party IT outsourcing providers.
• Strong proficiency with:
• VMware vSphere
• Windows and Linux operating systems
• Working knowledge of Nutanix Files and Objects, VMware vSAN, SAN switching concepts, and enterprise key management systems (EKMS).
• Knowledge of HIPAA, CMMC Level 2 (NIST SP 800-171), and CMS MAC ARS compliance requirements.
• Experience auditing technical work, validating compliance controls, and ensuring infrastructure reliability.
• Strong understanding of IT service management, vendor governance, and SLA management.
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.

• Extensive experience supporting both on-premises and cloud hosting environments.
• Experience with infrastructure monitoring tools and performance optimization.
• Knowledge of vulnerability management and remediation.
• Experience with capacity planning for hosting, storage, and database environments.
• Previous experience supporting healthcare insurance or another highly regulated field

The strongest candidate will combine hands-on infrastructure engineering experience with the ability to oversee outsourced IT operations

This individual should be comfortable reviewing vendor work, identifying technical or compliance gaps, managing escalations, and ensuring infrastructure services meet performance and regulatory expectations.
