Overview

The PSC is an independent state agency that regulates more than 1,100 public utilities, ensuring safe, reliable, affordable, and environmentally responsible utility services and equitable access to telecommunications and broadband services. This position offers a hybridized work schedule with the flexibility to telework from within Wisconsin while coming into the Hill Farms State Office Building in Madison for scheduled in‑person days, training, meetings, and operational needs.
ResponsibilitiesThis Attorney will provide legal services to the PSC in dockets before the Commission, represent the Commission in proceedings before all levels of state and federal courts and before federal and state administrative agencies, and provide all other legal services to the PSC. The Attorney will work predominantly with utility, administrative, and environmental laws.
Qualifications- Licensed to practice law in the State of Wisconsin by the time of appointment.
- Experience conducting legal research and making determinations or recommendations based on legal research.
- Experience preparing formal legal documents such as briefs, pleadings, affidavits, or orders relevant to pending court or agency proceedings.
- Experience writing memoranda and correspondence related to dockets.
- Legal experience related to utility law, administrative law, or environmental law.
- Experience working on litigation at all levels of state and federal courts and administrative agencies.
- Experience preparing witnesses, testimony, cross‑examination, and argument for court and agency proceedings.
- Experience advising clients on compliance with state and federal statutes, rules, and guidance.

SalaryAnnual salary range $91,520–$120,786 plus excellent benefits. Twelve‑month probationary period required.
