Carlson Black has an immediate opening in our Madison office for a full-time real estate and corporate paralegal with at least five years of recent experience. The ability to manage workflow from multiple attorneys is a must.

Job SummaryThis position assists and supports attorneys at the firm in meeting our clients’ needs in a wide variety of real estate and corporate transactions, including purchase/sale, financing, leasing and development.
SalaryFrom $105,000 per year. We offer salaries that are comparable to most mid to large‑size law firms in Wisconsin, including a discretionary bonus and full benefits. We offer an exceptional work‑life balance.

Responsibilities- Preparing closing checklists and monitoring deadlines
- Reviewing and analyzing title insurance commitments and title documents
- Reviewing and analyzing plats and surveys
- Utilizing online GIS and other mapping tools
- Reviewing and analyzing local zoning ordinances
- Preparing initial drafts of real estate documents including leases, purchase agreements, transfer returns, title affidavits and other closing documents.
- Communicating frequently with supervising attorneys, clients, lenders, title companies, and surveyors
- Assisting with due diligence activities
- Reviewing and summarizing commercial leases
- Assembling closing transcripts
- Preparing initial drafts of corporate documents, including articles of organization/incorporation and resolutions
- Preparing and filing documents with WDFI, including organizational documents and annual reports
- Preparing and maintaining corporate minute books
- Preparing documents for commercial loan transactions
- Preparing and filing UCC financing statements
- Striving for 100% accuracy in everything you do
- Ensuring all deadlines are being met in a timely manner
- Managing workflow from multiple attorneys
- Completing billing activities including time entry and preparation of client invoices
- Willing to cross‑train and learn new skills as required
- Assisting with general office administration
- Must have prior experience in the real estate department of a law firm, in‑house law department, bank, or title insurance company
- Must have superior organizational and time‑management skills, attention to detail and proven ability to work within a fast‑paced team environment with multiple deadlines
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must have intellectual curiosity and willingness to learn new things
- Must have an entrepreneurial spirit and be willing to take initiative
- Must be an independent thinker and self‑starter
- Must have strong proofreading and grammatical skills
- Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite

Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. This is an in‑person position, with occasional work‑from‑home opportunities.
