Digital Press Operator

Job Summary:

The Digital Press Operator is responsible for setting up print. Responsibilities include verifying the stock, ink and text of printed documents are correct and match the work order. Additionally, the Digital Press Operator is required to make the necessary press adjustments to ensure the printed products meet GSP quality standards and print efficiency standards. The Digital Press Operator is responsible for the cleanliness of the press, his or her press line and surrounding area, and the proper daily use and maintenance of the equipment required for Digital production.

The Digital Press Operator will all assist with training and coaching of others as required.

• Ability to set-up and run a minimum of two different press types
• Set up press in accordance with GSP and industry specifications
• Verify information on work order is correct: job number, letter code, color type, files match work order, completing 1st article inspection, etc.
• Make press adjustments as required to ensure quality standards are met
• Meet or exceed print efficiency standards
• Communicate technical issues or problems to Managers and/or Supervisors as well Maintenance Technicians
• Complete daily & weekly paperwork as required
• Strong grasp of GSP’s workflow, processes, and procedures
• Complete maintenance logs and report press downtime as required
• Maintain cleanliness of press & press area, performing basic machine maintenance
• All other duties as requested, including supporting other departments

• 4-color process experience, preferred

• Mechanical Aptitude, preferred
• Organized, with strong attention to detail
• Manage large workload, and maintain high quality and accuracy of work
• Meet deadlines and mitigate disruptions to workflow
• Knowledgeable in basic math, fractions, and percentages
• Ability to pass a basic skills test
• Ability to communicate (Read, speak, write, understand) in English
• Able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
• Available for weekend work shifts & overtime as required
• Safety conscious with ability to perform job functions in a safe manner
• Ability to work alone and under minimal supervision
• Communicate professionally, effectively, and appropriately with all levels of employees
• Ability to think outside the box when creative solutions are needed
• Work well on a team and contribute positively to GSP culture

• PC/Keyboard:
  Position requires work on computers, using keyboards and viewing monitor
• Standing:
  Standing for entire assigned shift
• Lifting:
  Raising or lowering an object from one level to another (Includes upward pulling) of up to 50 lbs.
• Carrying:
  Transporting an object, usually holding it in the hands or arms, or on the shoulder
• Reaching:
  Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
• Feeling:
  Ability to identify texture of material such as if lamination has been applied and being able to distinguish different gauges of material thickness
• Talking:
  Verbal communication including giving instruction and exchanging information with necessary detail and delivery
• Hearing:
  Communication including listening to people convey instructions or conversation, and distinguishing noises from machines and within the plant
