American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a 13-week night/day rotating assignment requiring 2 years of acute care experience and passing a telemetry exam prior to start.

• Med/Surg Tele unit caring for adult patients with a variety of medical-surgical conditions under the Family Medicine service
• Unit includes a locked wing for Department of Corrections (DOC) patients, with 0-10 DOC patients at any given time accompanied by a DOC officer
• Day/Night rotating 12-hour shifts  and ) with every other weekend rotation
• Holiday coverage required as needed
• Floating required as needed
• D/N flips limited to 2 per 6-week schedule period unless requested otherwise by employee
• 36 hours off required between end of night shift and start of day shift
• EPIC EMR used

• Active RN license (WI or compact)
• BLS certification (AHA only)
• Minimum 2 years of acute care RN experience within the last 3 years in med/surg or tele specialty
• Experience starting and maintaining IVs required
• EPIC EMR experience required, within past 12 months preferred
• Must pass a telemetry exam with strict scoring criteria (100% lethal rhythm identification, no more than 1 incorrect answer on 3rd degree heart blocks, 80% or higher overall) prior to start

• Provide nursing care for adult med/surg and telemetry patients, including monitoring and managing dysrhythmias
• Skills utilized may include IV therapy, central line and PICC line management, feeding tube care, wound care/wound vac, and administration of heparin, insulin, and PCA medications
• Oxygen administration and nasal cannula use required
• Experience with substance withdrawal and surgical drain management preferred
• Previous law enforcement patient care experience preferred
• First-time travelers will be considered if they have 5 years of previous inpatient med/surg experience
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted
• References should not be submitted for consideration
• Located at a Magnet-designated teaching hospital ranked Wisconsin's #1 hospital
