Purpose Of Position Under direct supervision this position assists with the preparation, packaging, and distribution of school meals on an on-call basis. This requires the ability to adapt quickly to changing work assignments and locations on short notice. By maintaining a positive attitude and promoting teamwork in the Food Production Center, this role ensures students receive a pleasant and timely meal service.
EssentialDuties And Responsibilities
- Meal Preparation
- Preparing/packaging food as directed with portion control and visual inspection of the product
- Adhere to recipes to ensure meal pattern compliance
- Washing, rinsing, and sanitizing dishes, glassware, silverware, pots, pans, and other kitchenware using dishwashers or by hand
- Keeping the dish room and surrounding areas clean, organized, and free of clutter
- Operating and maintaining dishwashing equipment, including dishwashers, disposals, and other relevant machinery
- Sorting and storing clean dishes, silverware, and other items in designated areas
- Follow daily and weekly cleaning schedules
- Adhering to strict food safety and hygiene guidelines to prevent contamination
- Report equipment malfunctions, damage, or maintenance needs to the appropriate supervisor
- Cleaning kitchen equipment and the general food service area
- Assisting with other cleaning duties as assigned to maintain a clean and sanitary environment
- Progressive food service experience
- Reliable transportation to get to work each day
- Ability to read and follow directions and maintain records
- Knowledge of basic mathematical concepts
- Commitment to working cross-culturally and valuing diversity
- Ability to operate various commercial kitchen equipment
- Strong verbal communications skills
- Knowledge of large-scale food production
- Experience working cross-culturally and/or commitment to developing cultural competence
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing work assignments on short notice
- Six (6) months of food service experience
- Serv Safe Food Handler Certification or equivalent strongly preferred
Ability to exert moderate physical effort in manual work, including lifting up to 100 lbs in various capacities, standing for extended periods, and working in variable environmental conditions.
Working Conditions- Must be available to respond to on-call operational needs as required
- Scheduled shifts may run between 6:00 AM and 4:00 PM; flexibility is required
- Duties and assignments may shift in response to changing operational priorities
