Application Scientist – Micro‑XRF with EMA
Bring your expertise to Bruker to support product lines from Micro X‑ray fluorescence and electron microscopy. Bruker is enabling scientists to make breakthrough discoveries and support life‑science research, applied and pharma applications, microscopy, nanoanalysis, industrial applications, cell biology, preclinical imaging, clinical phenomics and proteomics research, and clinical microbiology.
As part of Bruker Nano, one of Bruker’s four operating segments, you will work with customers in academic, governmental, life‑science, materials, and applied industries to determine the characteristics of matter and visualize the structure of molecules. The Bruker AXS Division’s US office is located in Madison, WI.
Responsibilities- Pre‑Sales support: analyze customer samples, create detailed reports, and present findings to customers;
- Demonstrate the instruments and software packages to potential customers;
- Represent Bruker AXS at trade shows, conferences, webinars, and online events;
- Develop and present new analytical applications;
- Assist sales with product presentations and discussions.
- Plan and execute advanced user training online or at customer sites;
- Provide support for application and technical questions related to the product line.
- Support R&D during new product development (prototype and software testing);
- Generate content for sales collaterals and social media, e.g., application notes or white papers;
- Create and present scientific work;
- Maintain instruments in the demo laboratory and ensure good working conditions.
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree (B.Sc.) with 3‑5 years of work experience, Master’s (M.Sc.) with 1‑2 years or PhD desirable but not required;
- Work experience in XRF (Geology, Chemistry, Physics, materials science or related field) for elemental and/or chemical analysis;
- Experience with chemical/elemental mapping beneficial;
- Analytical Geology (Mineralogy) background is a plus;
- Solid knowledge of X‑ray fluorescence and electron spectroscopy or microscopy;
- Knowledge of related methods (ICP, NIR, XRD) considered a plus;
- Willingness to learn new technologies and applications and enthusiasm for scientific instruments;
- Strong communication skills and ability to interact with stakeholders both inside and outside the company;
- Ability to work with diverse and international teams;
- Positive attitude and ability to manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment;
- Excellent time‑management skills and work ethic;
- Experience with MS Office Suite (PPT, Excel, Word, Teams);
- Willingness to travel up to 60% with some international travel;
- Fluent in English (knowledge of Spanish, Portuguese, French or German is a plus);
- Valid Driver License in good standing issued by resident state required;
- U.S. citizenship or U.S. permanent resident status required;
- Maintain a valid passport with flexibility for domestic and international travel;
- If not local, willing to move to Madison, WI.
At Bruker, base salary is part of our total compensation. The estimated base salary range for this full‑time position is between $61,200 and $108,000 and provides an opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. Full‑time employees may also be eligible for a performance‑related incentive and a full range of benefits including 401(k) with company match, an employee stock purchase plan, medical and dental plans, life insurance, short‑term and long‑term disability insurance, employee assistance program and paid time off including vacation, sick time, and holidays.
