As a Laborer/Groundman (Travel Crew), you will develop new skills, work in a safety-minded environment, and join us in expanding technology for a better community. Responsibilities- General labor for aerial and underground construction projects.
- Perform manual tasks such as digging trenches, unloading building materials, preparing job sites with hand tools.
- Operate fiber‑blowing equipment to install fiber optic cable in conduits.
- Place conduit as directed by Foreman or Supervisor.
- Read maps and diagrams and follow directions.
- Support trench digging and closing.
- Move materials and vehicles as directed by Foreman or Supervisor.
- Perform maintenance services: cleanup, wash vehicles, landscaping.
- Operate vehicle and equipment (trucks and other equipment) as directed and certified.
- Tow trailers with flatbed trucks.
- Conduct aerial/underground work as needed and directed, and as trained.
- Troubleshoot RF and fiber line/equipment issues.
- Construct and repair underground RF and fiber service.
- Read and construct from design schematics and maps.
- Learn inventory and equipment required for projects.
- Receive training and certification on equipment: line truck, bucket truck, cable reel equipment, saws and drills.
- Climb poles with climbing equipment safely.
- Move and relocate RF and fiber service.
- Familiar with NESC safety guidelines.
- Safety is part of your day to day.
- Track record of completing work with high quality.
- Ability to solve hard problems and a hands‑on approach.
- Looking for long‑term projects.
- Enjoy getting hands dirty with the team.
- Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record.
- Can lift and carry up to 70 lbs.
- Ability to read and understand maps, drawings, and diagrams.
- Climbing certification or related experience.
- Practical experience in overhead construction for RF and fiber.
- Knowledge of overhead bill of materials.
- Knowledge of city, county, state clearance codes.
- Extensive knowledge of network architecture and design for RF and fiber networks.
- Flagger certified for field work as needed.
- Excellent verbal, written, phone, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in high‑volume environment.
- Willingness to travel.
Compensation of $25‑$30 per hour, or prevailing wage in certain locations, if working on the project.
Per diem includes hotel + $50 for food. Crews may travel one week at a time, occasionally extended stays up to two weeks before returning home for a break.

- The schedule is typically 6 days per week, 10‑12 hours per day.
- Overtime pay will comply with California labor laws, at 1.5 times the regular hourly rate for hours >8 in a day or >40 in a week.
- Rest and meal breaks: compensated paid rest periods; unpaid meal breaks in accordance with California labor laws.
