About the Role
Under the leadership of the Regional Sales Director, the Store Manager is a key member of the Donated Goods Retail Operations team. The role involves daily operation of the retail store, developing team members, clients, and volunteers, and identifying opportunities for employee growth to support Goodwill’s mission.
Job InformationJob Type: Full‑time, Salary Non‑Exempt
Shift: 8‑hour shift, scheduled for 40‑hours per week; weekend availability required.
Duties and Responsibilities- Open and close the store at least four (4) days per week, specifically on Monday, Friday, a minimum of three Saturdays per month, and the first and last day of each month.
- Manage team hiring, training, development, and performance while ensuring proper scheduling, time‑card approval, and supply management.
- Oversee financial tasks: cash handling, register balancing, store finance reporting, and conduct audits for continuous improvement.
- Maintain store image, security, and cleanliness; handle donations per procedures and stay informed on industry trends, competitive pricing, and market knowledge.
- Monitor key performance indicators, including sales, donations, and financial ratios, ensuring a positive customer and donor experience and compliance with policies.
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and communicating effectively in English, with flexibility to accommodate diverse communication styles and abilities.
- Basic computer skills, including usage of Microsoft Office products.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or two (2) years of equivalent retail management experience preferred.
- Valid driver’s license with reliable transportation for required travel.
- Availability to work evenings and weekends.

Physical Requirements / Work EnvironmentThe job requires the ability to twist, bend, squat, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, push and pull. The employee must lift up to 40 pounds and may use equipment to aid in moving items over 40 pounds. The work environment is indoors with intermittent exposure to outside temperatures and occupational allergens such as dust, animal hair and dander, perfumes, and mold. Noise levels are moderate.
