About the Role:
We are looking for a skilled Yoga Instructor trained in the Sivananda Style of Yoga to deliver high-quality yoga, pranayama, meditation, and mantra-based practices across our online programs and in-person retreats, workshops, and immersive events.
This is a hybrid role combining online teaching with occasional travel for retreats and special programs. You will work closely with our Program and Experience teams to ensure every session is technically sound, energetically aligned, safe, and deeply meaningful for participants.
Key Responsibilities:
Teaching & Facilitation
Lead live online and in-person yoga sessions for sadhaks.
Teach Sivananda-style asana, pranayama, meditation, relaxation, and mantra chanting with technical accuracy and experiential depth.
Hold safe, inclusive, and energetically stable spaces for individuals and groups.
Adapt practices based on participant needs, experience levels, and learning formats (online, retreats, workshops, etc.).
Maintain high standards of safety, alignment, and awareness of contraindications.
Program Delivery & Experience
Collaborate with Program Managers and Experience Designers to align sessions with learning objectives.
Prepare session plans, practice flows, and progression structures for multi-day and multi-week programs.
Participate in retreats, intensives, and special events as a core facilitator.
Support the participant journey through thoughtful sequencing and pacing of practices.
Content & Communication
Communicate instructions, yogic philosophy, and context clearly in fluent English .
Guide Sanskrit mantra chanting with correct pronunciation, rhythm, and devotional integrity.
Contribute to recorded practices, curriculum development, and learning resources when required.
Ensure all teaching reflects Shala's values, grounded, respectful, inclusive, and non-dogmatic.
Professionalism & Collaboration
Be punctual, prepared, and fully present for all sessions and events.
Coordinate closely with Operations, Community, and Support teams.
Share feedback after programs to continuously improve participant experience.
Maintain professional ethics, healthy boundaries, and compassionate leadership.
You're a Great Fit If You:
Have 2+ years of teaching experience with intermediate to advanced practitioners.
Are formally trained or certified in Sivananda Yoga or have strong experience teaching in the Sivananda tradition.
Have a strong personal yoga practice and embody yogic principles in daily life.
Possess knowledge of Sanskrit chanting and are confident leading mantra practices.
Are confident in teaching asana, pranayama, meditation, relaxation, and mantra chanting.
Are fluent in English and comfortable teaching diverse audiences.
Have experience facilitating online classes, retreats, workshops, or immersive programs.
Are emotionally grounded, self-regulated, and able to hold space with sensitivity.
Are organized, reliable, collaborative, and comfortable working within a structured team.
Feel aligned with purpose-driven, wellbeing-oriented, and conscious learning environments.
