Undertake comprehensive fostering assessments (Form F / competency-based) in line with national standards and agency policies. Assess the suitability of prospective foster carers, including background checks, home visits, and detailed analysis of applicants’ capacity to meet children’s needs. Prepare high-quality, evidence-based assessment reports for presentation at fostering panels. Work closely with applicants to provide guidance, support, and clear feedback throughout the assessment process.
Analyse risk and safeguarding considerations, ensuring all recommendations are robust and clearly justified. Liaise with multi-agency professionals and gather references to inform assessments. Ensure all work complies with fostering regulations, policies, and statutory guidance (e.g. Fostering Services Regulations, National Minimum Standards). Maintain accurate, timely records and documentation in line with organisational requirements. Contribute to panel discussions and provide professional recommendations regarding approvals.
Promote equality, diversity, and the best outcomes for children in all assessment work. Requirements of this role:
Must be a Qualified Social Worker, registered with Social Work England. Must have a Social Work qualification (Diploma in social work, social work degree or equivalent) Must have minimum of 3 years post qualifying experience working as a Qualified social worker
