You'll be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely delivery of high-volume fortnightly and monthly payrolls, maintaining compliance with payroll legislation, and driving continuous improvement across the department. Duties and responsibilities Reporting to senior management, your key responsibilities will include:
Managing the end-to-end processing of high-volume fortnightly and monthly payrolls. Leading, supervising and supporting a small payroll team, ensuring workloads are effectively delegated and deadlines are consistently achieved. Ensuring payroll is processed accurately, on time and in line with current HMRC legislation. Reviewing payroll calculations, statutory payments, deductions and final payroll submissions. Managing pension auto-enrolment, payroll reconciliations and year-end payroll activities.
Resolving complex payroll queries and providing expert payroll advice to employees and managers. Producing payroll reports and supporting the wider Finance and HR teams. Reviewing and improving payroll processes to increase efficiency and accuracy. Maintaining payroll records securely and ensuring strict confidentiality at all times. Experience and qualifications To be successful in this role, you will have:
Significant experience managing end-to-end payroll within a high-volume environment. Experience processing both fortnightly and monthly payrolls. Essential:
Previous team management or supervisory experience, with the ability to lead, motivate and develop a small payroll team. A thorough understanding of UK payroll legislation, HMRC regulations, pensions and statutory payments. Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines. Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Experience using payroll software and Microsoft Excel.
