Health & Safety Advisor - (Corporate Services) Apex Housing Association £39,862 £ 42,839 FTE (£31,890 £ 34,271 for 29.6 hours per week)

Derry/Londonderry, Belfast or Dungannon Hybrid working available after training period Kelly Jennings & Associates has been exclusively retained by Apex Housing Association to appoint a Health & Safety Advisor to sit within its Corporate Services team. Apex provides and maintains more than 7,000 homes and supports over 18,000 tenants and residents across Northern Ireland. Its services include general needs housing, supported living, care services and accommodation for people with a range of complex needs.

This creates a varied and sensitive health and safety environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering appropriate Health and Safety support, advice and process compliance to Employees working within supported living and care settings. This includes service users homes, office environments, housing and lone-working arrangements. The role Reporting to the HR Manager, the Health & Safety Advisor will provide consistent, impartial and practical advice to managers and employees across multiple teams and locations.

This is a largely stand-alone advisory position, combining operational health and safety support with risk assessment, incident investigation, training, policy development, compliance and reporting. The role requires more than technical knowledge alone. Incidents may involve employee safety, individual wellbeing, service continuity and the particular circumstances of tenants receiving care or support. The appointed candidate must therefore be able to exercise sound judgement, investigate matters thoroughly and recommend balanced and proportionate measures which protect employees, tenants and the organisation.

The longer-term objective is to minimise health and safety incidents when caregivers are carrying out duties, through the optimisation of continuous learning, consistent processes and preventative measures. Key responsibilities The Health & Safety Advisor will:
Provide health and safety advice and support to managers and employees across the organisation Complete and review risk assessments, identify hazards and recommend appropriate controls Conduct workplace inspections and ensure policies and procedures are being implemented consistently Investigate incidents and accidents, gather evidence, review existing controls and ensure corrective actions are completed Deliver health and safety induction and refresher training to employees, while identifying wider training needs Support the development of health and safety policies, procedures and operational guidance Coordinate employee insurance claims and liaise with claims representatives and regulatory bodies Maintain accurate records and produce evidence-based reports, statistics and KPI information for management, Audit and Risk, and the Board of Management Support Health & Safety Committee meetings and ensure agreed actions are followed through Identify and implement practical improvements to health and safety processes across the organisation Essential criteria Applicants must have: A NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety Membership of, or be working towards membership of, the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health At least one years experience within a dedicated health and safety role

Experience of advising and supporting line managers on complex health and safety matters across multiple teams or locations Previous experience of delivering training Knowledge of current health and safety legislation and relevant Codes of Practice Strong written, verbal and IT skills The ability to analyse complex information and present findings clearly and accurately A diplomatic and collaborative approach, with the confidence to influence stakeholders and manage sensitive matters tactfully A full current driving licence and access to a car, subject to the reasonable adjustment provision detailed within the person specification
