Ready to take ownership of Health & Safety across a busy construction portfolio? Novo People is partnering with an established construction business to recruit an experienced Health & Safety Manager. Reporting to the SHEQ Director, youll take a lead role in maintaining high safety standards across multiple projects, supporting operational teams and helping drive continuous improvement throughout the business. This isnt a role that sits behind a desk.

Youll be visible across sites, working closely with project teams, challenging standards where needed and providing practical advice that helps people work safely without slowing delivery down.

The Role Youll support the implementation of the companys Health & Safety strategy across live projects and wider business operations. Your responsibilities will include:
Managing a small team of H&S Advisors. Providing practical Health & Safety advice to managers and project teams Supporting compliance with company procedures, management systems and legal requirements Reviewing Risk Assessments, Method Statements, COSHH assessments and other project documentation Carrying out site inspections, audits and compliance reviews Monitoring safety performance and producing management reports Managing and supporting Health & Safety Advisors across project sites Investigating accidents, incidents and near misses Ensuring corrective actions and lessons learned are communicated effectively Delivering training, toolbox talks and safety briefings Assessing subcontractor and supply-chain Health & Safety competence Supporting tender and pre-construction submissions Maintaining Health & Safety records, accreditations and ISO management-system requirements Engaging with clients, consultants, contractors and regulatory bodies A major part of the role will be helping create a consistent safety culture across the business one where project teams take ownership and Health & Safety is treated as part of successful delivery, not simply a compliance exercise.

What Were Looking For Youll be an experienced Health & Safety professional with a strong understanding of construction environments and the confidence to influence people at every level. You should be able to demonstrate:
Previous Health & Safety experience within construction, civil engineering or a similar project-led environment Strong knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and construction safety requirements Experience carrying out inspections, audits and incident investigations The ability to review RAMS and other project safety documentation Strong leadership or people-management skills The confidence to advise, influence and challenge managers and site teams A practical and solutions-focused approach to risk management Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong organisation and time-management abilities The ability to manage competing priorities across several projects Youll need to be credible on site, comfortable speaking with senior management and capable of turning Health & Safety requirements into practical actions.
