Quantity Surveyor

Your new company Hays is delighted to be working with a well-established construction contractor in the recruitment of a Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team based in is an excellent opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor who is looking to develop their career within the building sector, working alongside an experienced commercial and operational team on a varied portfolio of construction projects.

Your new role As Quantity Surveyor, you will play an important role in the commercial management of construction projects, supporting projects from initial stages through to responsibilities will include:
Preparing and managing project budgets, valuations and cost reports Managing variations and monitoring project costs Assisting with subcontractor procurement and account management Working closely with site and contracts teams to monitor commercial performance Liaising with clients, subcontractors and suppliers Supporting the preparation and agreement of final accounts You will work closely with the wider commercial and operational teams, ensuring projects are effectively managed from a cost and commercial perspective.

What you'll need to succeed You will ideally hold a relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying or a construction-related discipline, with previous experience gained within a building or main contracting should be able to demonstrate:
Good commercial and numerical skills An understanding of construction costs and contractual processes Strong communication and organisational skills The ability to work both independently and as part of a wider project team Applications are welcomed from Quantity Surveyors at an earlier stage of their career who are keen to continue developing their commercial experience.
