Vickerstock are working in partnership with a leading precision engineering company specialising in the aerospace sector to recruit an Aerospace Buyer for their growing supply chain team.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established manufacturer renowned for delivering high-quality precision components to global aerospace customers. You'll play a key role in ensuring materials, components and subcontract services are available to support production, customer delivery and continued business growth.
Role Overview
Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, you'll be responsible for managing purchasing activities across raw materials, subcontract services and components, ensuring materials are delivered on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards.
Duties
- Build strong supplier relationships, manage delivery schedules and identify opportunities to improve cost, quality and supply chain performance.
- Raise and manage purchase orders for raw materials, subcontract services, and components
- Expedite orders and proactively manage delivery schedules, shortages, and risks
- Act as the key day-to-day contact for suppliers, ensuring clear communication of priorities
- Support material availability to meet production and kitting requirements
- Liaise closely with Production, Engineering, Quality and Logistics
- Maintain accurate data in ERP systems (lead times, pricing, delivery dates)
- Monitor and support supplier performance, including on-time delivery and responsiveness
- Assist with RFQs, cost comparisons, and identifying value improvement opportunities
- Coordinate subcontract processes and ensure timely return of work
What you'll need to succeed
- Previous experience in a Buyer, Purchasing or Supply Chain role within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience using ERP or MRP systems.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent communication and relationship management skills.
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach to problem solving.
- The ability to work effectively within a fast-paced production environment.
