• Act as a visible cashier/checker, greeting, engaging and assisting customers.
• Process customer transactions quickly, accurately and efficiently through the point‑of‑sale (POS) system.
• Handle various payment types (cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP, WIC, etc.) and adhere to company policy.
• Maintain cash accuracy, control shortages/overages, and adhere to guidelines on restricted sale items (alcohol, tobacco, DVDs).
• Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
• Follow established policies for postage stamps, gift cards and coupons.
• Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads.
• Adhere to food‑safety regulations and guidelines.
• Support safety programs, identify unsafe conditions and notify management.
• Perform preventive maintenance inspections and report equipment needs.
• Answer product questions and create an environment where customers feel welcome and appreciated.
• Adhere to local, state, federal laws and company guidelines.
• Work cooperatively in a high‑paced, sometimes stressful environment.
• Manage conflict reasonably, nonconfrontationally and cooperatively.
