- Prior experience as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk
- Act as a visible cashier/checker, greeting, engaging and assisting customers.
- Process customer transactions quickly, accurately and efficiently through the point‑of‑sale (POS) system.
- Handle various payment types (cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP, WIC, etc.) and adhere to company policy.
- Maintain cash accuracy, control shortages/overages, and adhere to guidelines on restricted sale items (alcohol, tobacco, DVDs).
- Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
- Follow established policies for postage stamps, gift cards and coupons.
- Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads.
- Adhere to food‑safety regulations and guidelines.
- Support safety programs, identify unsafe conditions and notify management.
- Perform preventive maintenance inspections and report equipment needs.
- Answer product questions and create an environment where customers feel welcome and appreciated.
- Adhere to local, state, federal laws and company guidelines.
- Work cooperatively in a high‑paced, sometimes stressful environment.
- Manage conflict reasonably, nonconfrontationally and cooperatively.
- Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
- Follow directions and seek assistance when needed.
- Provide support and assistance to minors, individuals with special needs and older adults.
- Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
