About the Position
City of Magnolia, Texas
Utility Clerk
The City of Magnolia is seeking a dedicated Utility Clerk to join our Utility Billing team. This full-time, non-exempt position is responsible for ensuring all customers are accurately charged for services and delivering exceptional customer service. Duties include answering phone calls, assisting walk-in customers, resolving account queries, establishing new services, disconnecting service, processing payments, maintaining a cash drawer, preparing reports, collecting bad debts, and other duties as assigned.
The Utility Clerk will also coordinate with the water/wastewater field division and garbage contractor to ensure service accuracy and support office administration tasks in a paperless environment.
Ideal Candidate
- Demonstrates outstanding customer service skills, tact, and diplomacy when interacting with customers.
- Is highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to accurately perform data entry and file management.
- Communicates effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Works efficiently both independently and as a collaborative team member.
- Manages multiple tasks and prioritizes responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proactively checks and restocks office supplies as needed.
- Adheres to company policies regarding data privacy and customer service.
- High School Diploma required.
- One year of related experience preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and basic computer skills.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and work in both independent and team settings.
