Environmental Health Technical Officer - Residential Maidenhead (Hybrid Working) £50 per hour (Inside IR35) 37 hours per week preferred (30 hours considered) Immediate Start Available Temporary Contract Our Local Authority client in Maidenhead is seeking an experienced Environmental Health Technical Officer to join their Private Sector Housing team on an interim basis with an immediate start available. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in improving housing standards across the borough, undertaking enforcement and regulatory functions relating to private sector accommodation.
Key Responsibilities Undertake inspections and assessments of private sector housing, including Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS) assessments. Process and manage HMO licensing applications and compliance activity. Investigate offences under the Housing Act 2004 and Renters Rights Act 2025 . Prepare evidence and support enforcement action where appropriate. Work closely with residents, landlords, agents and partner organisations to resolve housing issues and improve standards.
Contribute to the wider objectives of the Environmental Health and Housing teams. Requirements Applicants must have:
Demonstrable experience working within an Environmental Health, Regulatory Services or Housing environment and Certificate of competence in HHSRS / Recognised qualification in environmental health, housing or similar field (Desirable) Experience working within a multi-disciplinary team to achieve shared outcomes. Experience in a customer-facing role , dealing with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures. Strong knowledge and practical experience of private sector housing legislation , including HHSRS and HMO licensing.
Desirable Experience undertaking enforcement activity including:
Issuing Fixed Penalty Notices (FPNs) Serving statutory notices Housing enforcement investigations Additional Information Hybrid working arrangement . Candidates will be expected to attend within the borough approximately 3 days per week . 37 hours per week preferred , although 30 hours per week will be considered . Offering £50 per hour Inside IR35 , with flexibility for exceptional candidates possessing significant relevant experience.
