Burtons Medical Equipment Ltd. (part of the Burtons Group of Companies) has a new vacancy for an Executive Assistant. Burtons is a family‑run group of companies covering manufacturing, sales and after‑care servicing in the veterinary sector. Founded in 1981, the company has grown to be one of the leading veterinary equipment suppliers in the UK.
About the role:
The purpose of the role is to provide high‑level administrative and organisational support to our director team, managing schedules, communications, travel, and strategic tasks to enhance executive productivity. You will report directly to the shareholders.
- Calendar and schedule management – organise and prioritise meetings, appointments and events to ensure executives’ time is used efficiently.
- Travel coordination – arrange domestic and international travel, including flights, accommodation, visas and itineraries.
- Communication management – screen calls, emails and correspondence, acting as a gatekeeper to reduce interruptions and manage priorities.
- Document preparation – draft, edit and format reports, presentations, briefing papers and other key documents.
- Meeting support – prepare agendas, take accurate minutes, follow up on action items, and coordinate logistics for internal and external meetings.
- Project coordination – oversee multiple projects, track progress and ensure deadlines are met.
- Liaison role – serve as a point of contact between executives, clients and internal teams, maintaining clear communication and alignment.
- Financial – assist with financial planning and facilitation of expense claims.
- Confidentiality management – handle sensitive information with discretion, including financial documents and personal matters.
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and other relevant software.
- Organisational skills – ability to multitask, prioritise and manage complex schedules efficiently.
- Communication skills – strong verbal and written communication, including drafting professional correspondence.
- Problem‑solving – anticipate executive needs, resolve issues proactively and maintain workflow continuity.
- Discretion and professionalism – maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive matters with integrity.
- Experience – typically 3‑5 years in administrative or executive support roles, with exposure to corporate or fast‑paced environments.
- Full‑time permanent contract, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
