Trainee Estimator Curtain Walling (TE202lm) Maidstone, England
We are recruiting a Trainee Estimator to join a busy façade and building envelope team. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically minded candidate with hands‑on estimating experience and a desire to progress into a senior estimating role. You will support and lead tender activity for high‑value projects involving curtain walling, windows, doors and full building envelope solutions.
Key Responsibilities- Support and lead high-value tender submissions for façade, curtain walling and aluminium glazing projects
- Prepare accurate take-offs, cost estimates, bills of quantities and tender documents
- Interpret complex architectural drawings and specifications to develop scope, materials and installation methodology
- Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors and design teams to obtain quotations and clarify technical queries
- Carry out value engineering, risk analysis and cost benchmarking to produce competitive and compliant bids
- Attend site surveys and pre‑tender meetings as required
- Maintain estimating databases, tender registers and document control
- Work under the mentorship of senior estimators and contribute to continuous improvement of estimating processes
- Proven experience leading high-value tenders within façade, curtain walling, or aluminium glazing systems
- Strong technical knowledge of curtain walling, windows, doors and building envelope solutions
- Ability to interpret complex architectural drawings and specifications
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel and comfortable working with take-off and estimating software
- Strong commercial awareness, attention to detail and numerical accuracy
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Willingness to visit sites and attend project meetings
- Experience with AutoCAD/Revit or other drawing software
- Formal qualification in construction, engineering or surveying (or equivalent industry experience)
- Knowledge of UK building regulations and relevant standards for façades and glazing
- Structured training and mentoring with clear progression to estimator/senior estimator roles
- Exposure to high-profile, technically challenging projects in the façade sector
