Maidstone Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 DOEBennett & Game are representing an established construction contractor who are seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their growing commercial team.
Based in Maidstone, the company has a turnover of circa £5m and specialises predominantly in high-end residential construction, alongside a selection of commercial projects. Their work includes bespoke residential builds, refurbishment and construction projects, with schemes typically ranging from £500k to £2.5m. All projects are located within approximately one hour of the Maidstone office, providing a predominantly office-based role with limited site travel.
This is an excellent opportunity for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor with around 1-2 years' experience to develop their commercial career within a close-knit contractor. Working alongside the Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will gain broad exposure across procurement, tendering, estimating, cost control and general commercial management, with genuine scope to take on increased responsibility as your experience develops.

Position Overview
- Assisting with the commercial management of construction projects from procurement through to completion
- Managing the procurement of materials, subcontractors and suppliers
- Preparing and issuing tenders, obtaining quotations and assisting with negotiations
- Assisting with take-offs, estimating, valuations, variations and final accounts
- Monitoring procurement against project budgets and supporting cost control
- Working closely with the Senior Quantity Surveyor and wider project team on JCT contracts and commercial matters
Position Requirements
- 1-2 years' experience within a Quantity Surveying or Commercial role
- Experience working for a construction contractor
- Experience with in high-end residential, residential, commercial, fit-out or similar contracting environments
- Good understanding of procurement, tendering and subcontractor management
- Experience with take-offs and basic estimating
- Understanding of JCT contracts and general Quantity Surveying principles
- Strong commercial awareness, organisational skills and attention to detail
