HMP Maidstone
Academics are currently recruiting for an experienced Multi-Skills Lecturer to join a prison education setting at HMP Maidstone on a permanent basis.
This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate Multi-Skills Lecturer, Construction Tutor, Painting & Decorating Tutor or experienced tradesperson with teaching experience to deliver practical vocational training to adult learners.
You will be supporting learners to develop valuable, employment-focused skills across Painting & Decorating, Tiling and Plastering, helping them gain confidence, qualifications and practical experience that can support their future career.
THE ROLE
As a Multi-Skills Lecturer, you will:
Deliver engaging and practical vocational sessions to adult learners.
Teach across Painting & Decorating, Tiling and Plastering.
Plan and deliver high-quality lessons in line with the curriculum.
Develop learners' practical construction and maintenance skills.
Assess learner progress and provide constructive feedback.
Support learners working towards relevant vocational qualifications.
Encourage learners to develop confidence, independence and employability skills.
Maintain accurate records of learner progress and achievement.
Promote excellent standards of health & safety within practical workshops.
Create a positive, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
Work collaboratively with education and prison staff to support learner progression.
ABOUT YOU
We are looking for a Multi-Skills Lecturer who has:
Strong practical experience in Painting & Decorating, Tiling and/or Plastering.
Experience delivering teaching, training or vocational education.
A relevant construction or trade qualification.
A recognised teaching qualification, or willingness to work towards one.
Experience working with or supporting adult learners.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
A patient, professional and encouraging approach.
The ability to deliver engaging practical and theory-based sessions.
A genuine interest in supporting learners to develop skills for employment.
Previous prison education experience is desirable but not essential.
