Senior / Principal Electrical EngineerWe are seeking a highly skilled Senior / Principal Electrical Engineer to join a multidisciplinary building services consultancy delivering complex projects across the UK. This role is perfect for an experienced engineer who wants to lead high-profile projects, mentor junior staff, and contribute to sustainable, innovative electrical design solutions.
As a Senior / Principal Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for managing the electrical design of large-scale projects while providing technical leadership and guidance across the team.The roleThe Senior / Principal Electrical Engineer will lead electrical design from concept to completion, working closely with mechanical engineers, architects, project managers, and clients. You will ensure designs are fully coordinated, compliant, and practical while supporting project delivery.
You will also provide mentoring, design review, and technical input to ensure the team delivers high-quality, cost-effective solutions.Key responsibilities
- Lead electrical building services design on complex and high-profile projects
- Prepare and review calculations, specifications, reports, and drawings
- Ensure designs comply with UK regulations and industry standards
- Coordinate with other disciplines to deliver fully integrated solutions
- Liaise with clients, contractors, and project teams throughout the project lifecycle
- Undertake site visits, surveys, and design inspections
- Support sustainable and low carbon design strategies
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers
- Contribute to project planning, fee management, and programme delivery
You will bring:
- A degree in Electrical Engineering or similar
- Chartered status or actively working towards it
- Proven experience delivering electrical designs on complex projects
- Strong knowledge of BS standards, CIBSE guidance, Wiring Regulations, and sustainable design
- Excellent communication and client management skills
- Experience mentoring and developing junior engineers
- A proactive, collaborative approach with strong problem-solving skills
